GATEWAYS. Māksla un tīklu kultūra

RIXC mākslinieki piedalās Eiropas mediju mākslas izstādē “GATEWAYS. Māksla un tīklu kultūra”, kas no š. g. 13. maija līdz 25. septembrim ir aplūkojama KUMU Mākslas muzejā Tallinā, Igaunijā. Izstāde notiek “Tallina – Eiropas kultūras galvaspilsēta 2011” programmas ietvaros.

"GATEWAYS" izstādes kuratore ir Sabīne Himmelsbaha (Sabine Himmelsbach) no Vācijas. Izstādē eksponēti 27 Eiropas mākslinieku darbi, tostarp RIXC tīkla mākslas projekts "RENEW-ABILITY". Šī projekta autori ir mākslinieki Raitis Šmits, Rasa Šmite, Jānis Garančs un Mārtiņš Ratniks.
"RENEW-ABILITY" projektu veido divi elementi. Viens no tiem ir tīkla mākslas darbs “Runā ar mani”, kas piedāvā iespēju caur internetu “runāties” ar izstādē augošo “garās pupas” stādu, uzmudrinot to augt ātrāk, labāk un vēl garākam.
Otru instalācijas daļu veido RIXC izveidotā jaunā sadarbības tīkla “Renewable Network” interaktīvā karte.

RENEWABLE NETWORK INTERFEISS
Kopš 2009. gada RIXC pēta jautājumus, kas skar mākslas un atjaunojamās enerģijas ilgtspējību, tāpat ir uzsākta sadarbības projektu un pasākumu sērija, kuras rezultātā ir izveidota jauna Baltijas-Ziemeļvalstu reģiona platforma - mākslas un atjaunojamās enerģijas tehnoloģiju tīkls (Renewable Network). RENEWABLE NETWORK interfeiss ir veidots ar mērķi šīs mākslinieciskās mijiedarbības padarīt redzamas plašākai sabiedrības daļai, kā arī veicināt pētniecību turpmāko sadarbības projektu, cilvēku un ilgtspējīgu nākotnes ekoloģisko stratēģiju kartēšanā. Projekts akcentē kopīgas sadarbības potenciālu globālajā tīklu sabiedrībā.

RUNĀ AR MANI
Mūsdienās zinātnieki ir veikuši eksperimentus, lai pārbaudītu seno pieņēmumu, ka augi, ar kuriem runā, aug labāk. RIXC ir izveidojis tiešsaistes interfeisu, ar kura palīdzību var runāt ar augiem caur internetu. Projekts savā ziņā ir turpinājums pagājušajā gadā RIXC un LJTI organizētajai sociālās mākslas kampaņai “Garā pupa”, kurā dominēja ideja “audzējiet paši savus dārzeņus!”. Taču šogad RIXC aicina piedalīties kopīgajā eksperimentā – “runāties” ar augiem, lai tādā veidā palīdzētu “garajām pupām” augt atrāk, labāk un vēl garākām.
Tallinā esam iestādījuši atkal jaunus “garās pupas” stādus, kur tiem Laikmetīgās mākslas muzeja KUMU izstāžu zālē būs jāaug līdz pat septembrim, tādēļ aicinam jūs palīdzēt – un uzmundrināt “garās pupas” stādus, izmantojot tiešsaistes interfeisu. RIXC artists Raitis Šmits, Rasa Šmite, Jānis Garančs and Mārtiņš Ratniks are presenting the project "RENEW-ABILITY" at the exhibition “GATEWAYS. Art and Networked Culture” in KUMU Art Museum, Tallinn, Estonia, from 13 May – 25 September, 2011

Twenty-seven artists from across Europe were invited to present their interpretation of the significance of network technologies and its social and cultural impacts on society. Exhibition "GATEWAYS" is a part of the program for Tallinn, European Capital of Culture 2011. Exhibition curator: Sabine Himmelsbach (Germany).

RENEW-ABILITY project consists of two parts. One part is an online installation “Talk to Me”, which invites everyone talk to “long bean” plants, thus presumably helping the plant to grow better, faster and longer.
Secont part of the installation is Renewable Network Map and Online Interface. It is a research tool and interactive visualization of recently founded Renewable Network dynamics.

RENEWABLE NETWORK INTERFACE
Since 2009 the artists collective RIXC has worked in cross-fields of art and renewable energy by addressing sustainability issues and initiating of a series of events and co-projects, in a result of which new Baltic Nordic cooperation platform – the Network for Art and Renewable Energy Technologies (Renewable Network) was launched. RENEWABLE NETWORK interface is designed to make artistic interventions in this field visible to a wider public and to encourage collaborative research for the further mapping of projecrs, people, and ecological strategies toward a sustainable future.
The project draws on the potential of joint and collaborative action in a globally networked society. It maps projects, people and fields, their interrelations, connections and overlapping as well as explores the intersection between information networks and alternative energy systems from the perspective of sustainability.

TALK TO ME
Nowadays, scientists have performed various experiments in order to verify the old assumption that talking to plants makes them grow better. RIXC created interface which allows talking to the plants remotely via the internet. The project is a continuation of the social participatory art campaign “Long Bean” (co-produced by RIXC and NTIL), which was based on the idea – “grow your our own vegetables!” This year you are kindly asked to talk to the beans by using an online remote interface, thus presumably helping the “long bean” plants to grow better, faster and longer.
During May we planted new “long bean” plants for the "GATEWAYS" exhibition which will grow at KUMU Art Museum until September. You are kindly asked to encourage and talk to the “long bean” plants by using an online remote interface! Your messages will be read aloud to the plant. Talk to the “long bean” plants here:
