XI International festival for new media culture

The 11th edition of "Art+Communication" festival in Riga with this year's theme: Energy, will investigate the notion of 'sustainable development' from various perspectives – artistic, scientific, cultural, technological, social, architectural, and environmental.


Festival programme will feature:

International media arts exhibition “ENERGY” – in RIXC gallery at Spikeri. October 9 – November 1, 2009

International art and science conference “ENERGY . Scientific and artistic, utopian and critical visions” (in collaboration with MPLab – Art Research Lab of Liepaja University) – in Spikeri (Maskavas iela 12/1). October 9 – 10, 2009

Performances, film screenings un workshops – in RIXC Media Space (11. novembra krastmala 35 / Minsterejas iela). October 9 – 10, 2009

Opening:

October 8 at 19.00:

Opening of the festival and “Energy” exhibition (in collaboration with Contemporary Arts Museum's pilotproject “kim?” and “Sound Forest” –  in Spikeri (Maskavas iela 12/1).

* Press conference:

October 8 at 14.00:
Festival press conference (meeting with artists, and curators' guided tour) – RIXC galerijā Spīķeros (Maskavas iela 12/1).

The festival was prefaced by a series of satellite events:
- Terike Haapoja's "Entropia" installation and a film programme Wonderful World (Riga, May 11, 2009) in the framework of the pre-project “Nordic Energy Park”
- Nordic-Baltic symposium Art and Renewable Technologies (Aizpute, August 13-16, 2009)
- Erik Hobijn's "Chemo-bar" performance (Riga, September 12, 2009).
